There is No Such Thing as Gospel & Secular Music

I don’t know where the division started neither do I know who started it. But I have a strong feeling that it was started with very good intentions and definitions. BUT NOW! The division of Gospel & Secular music is more of a holier-than-thou attitude more than an honour to God. I have seen a young girl, oh yah, and a female pastor as well, shaking their head with a lifted finger and a sneer on their face saying “I don’t listen to secular music”. I’m sure you can hear the tone of their voices. Holier-than-thou attitude is pride which is one of the 7 things that God utterly hates. Proverbs 6:16-19

What are you trying to achieve by saying you do not listen to secular music at that point? Are you trying to honour God or are you trying to show the way you are on the right track and the other person is on the wrong track? ‘Speck in your brothers eye, log in your own eye’ (Matt 7:3). It’s like saying the truth about stealing money. We will accept that you are honest but you still stole.

Ok. I know that not everyone who divides gospel and secular music is proud. So what about the ones who are genuinely trying honour God? Just like dressing, if you feel that as a lady, putting on a skirt honours God more than putting on a trouser, by all means, put on a skirt. I have totally no problem with that and in fact God will bless you for respecting Him because He can see what your intention is from your heart. The problem would come in when you start condemning everybody who puts on trousers. Who told you that you are the standard by which everybody else’s dressing should be measured? Who gave you that right? Same case with music: select music that you honestly believe honours God, preach it if you want but do not condemn. Who gave you the right?

I believe things like dedicating music to the devil, using music as incantation for evil achievements exists but I will not jump into condemning anyone because they are suddenly making a lot of money. Just because Jay Z is making a lot of money doesn’t make him a devil worshiper. I’m not saying that he is not; I’m not saying that he is either. I’m just saying that I do not have the right to put him in that terrible category if I do not know for sure. So, you might be asking, do I listen to Jay Z? No I don’t. For these simple reasons: he is vulgar and he disrespects God. For me, that is reason enough not to listen to a musician. But I will not start saying, he is Illuminati. I don’t know and I do not need to know. I already have enough reason to discredit him. Christians said the same thing about Michael Jackson and Madonna and believe it or not Michael W Smith and Amy Grant were in the list as well; that was in the early 90’s. I grew up listening to Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant and realised ‘this guys can’t be devil worshipers. Look at what they sing about and what they talk about.’ Yet some renown speaker, born again, apparently led by the Holy Spirit claimed that they were and even had ‘evidence’ to prove it. I wish I could remember that guy’s name. I think he was Green somebody.

Music is first divided into genres (more than 570 of them) then the rest of the divisions follow. Gospel/Christian and Secular music is a religious/spiritual division not a genre. I hear people ignorantly saying, I don’t listen to rock I listen to Christian music. That is like saying I don’t eat meat I only eat beef. Talking about rock; what exactly is rock? Rock is a style of music brought about by a guitar effect. To get those effects, all you need is a lead guitar and an effects monitor which you can buy from Credible Sounds...So, if I may ask, if I buy a lead guitar and effects pedal at Ksh 20,000 from Credible Sounds and take my equipment home and play Amazing Grace have I sinned? Absolutely not! So how is it possible to say, I don’t listen to rock, I listen to Christian music when you are right there in my house singing Amazing Grace with me and probably the friend you brought along with you gets saved at some point. It’s the same thing with the most popularly condemned genre of music; Hiphop. What exactly is Hiphop? Hiphop is a style of music where the bass drum and the bass guitar is amplified and played in an almost staccato style with additional instruments like strings and keys (piano)...So if I may ask...and you know what I’m going to say. So what is the problem, what’s all this about Hiphop culture. A culture is a way of living developed by a group of people. In the hiphop culture there is a style of dressing that is very different from the rock culture and the church choir culture. None is greater than the other...I repeat NONE IS GREATER THAN THE OTHER. What makes the difference is what is in your heart. Hiphop advocates for self-confidence, self-pride amongst other things. The problem comes in when it’s taken too far. By going too far I mean; showing off your cars and how much money you have and how much money you can spend; then you are sinning against God. This is no different from bank md’s. They are wealthy, drive big cars and live in posh homes. There is no problem with that. The problem comes in when a bank md starts showing off his wealth. Just because 70% of bank managing directors show off their wealth will you say that being a bank manager is a sin? No you wouldn’t; because there’s more to being a bank manager than showing off their wealth: it’s about taking care of a whole banking system, making sure business is running well and clients are taken care of etc. It’s just the same as hiphop just because most hiphop artists are boastful and show offs it doesn’t mean that hiphop is a sin! There is more to hiphop than that. Someone was telling me other say, Hiphop is evil because of the way they dress and dance explicitly...But this happens in every genre of music: bhangra, lingala, kamba, luhya, benga, kisii, taarab, rock, neo soul, rnb, afro-fusion, heavy metal, blues, Latin, merengue,  alternative rock, country, baila, rumba, samba, batacuda, reggae, raga, dance, techno, house, flamenco, polka, bachata, afro-beat, blue-grass, soft rock and many others including many Christian songs. Are you going to say that they are all sinful songs?  So before you open your big mouth next time, do some research.

Cardinal rule, you should never ever condemn a whole group, institution or people unless you are absolutely sure that THEY ALL ARE GUILTY of what you are condemning them for.

Just because some Nigerians practise witchcraft doesn’t mean all Nigerians are evil. The Israelites condemned the Samaritans, Jesus went to them and stayed there 4 days. God did not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah just like that, he picked out the only 4 people did not practise their culture and saved them before destroying the rest. Before destroying the earth, God searched for and found one man worthy of living out of the whole population of the earth. If God will make sure that at least He will not condemn someone for something he has not done WHO ARE YOU? Who gives you the right to condemn a whole genre of music? There are more than 570 genres of music in this world; have you studied all of them? Do you even know all of them? If you do then you are condemning your fellow Christians who are busy worshiping God, winning souls and living right, whom you don’t even know. I get extremely annoyed, when I hear someone condemning a whole practise or people or culture. You will say, the American culture is bad; by whose standard? Yours? The people who say that ladies wearing trousers is a sin. Do you know all the ladies who wear trousers on earth? Are you absolutely sure that they are all sinning? If you are then say it, by all means, BUT if you are not, shut your mouth and instead of looking for fault in others look for them within yourself and fix them. The day you will be perfect with completely no sin then come out and say whatever you want to say, meanwhile, get a life and live it!

Back to the division of Gospel and Secular Music
As I said earlier, this is a religious/spiritual division. Let’s break it down. Gospel music is a very specific type of music. The gospels in the bible are about making Jesus known and spreading his word. Gospel music is exactly that or that is what it’s supposed to be. These days; gospel music means any music that talks about God. The definition is more like Godly music. Godly music is any music that honours God. If a Christian artist sings about how God has blessed him with a big car and a big house and the emphasis of the song is about the property more than it is about the Lord then that is not Godly music no matter how many times you say Jesus in that song. A song is the message that you pass. I listen to BBJ and in his music I hear his name and how he is a great rapper more than I hear God. Note; the rest of his lyrics are ok. But because of the message he is passing, I do not respect him. When he did a collabo with MaryMary the difference is very clear in their messages. But, I am not greater than BBJ, he is a Christian like I am but is doing something that is against my principle. I will therefore not condemn him and shut him out. MaryMary did not yet their principles seem to be quite difference, the common factor between them is that they are all Christians. Who is a Christian? If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord then you are a Christian; even if you are living a life that doesn’t seem Christian I have no right to say that you are not one. I am not God. The furthest I can go is tell that I think that what you are doing is wrong and give you the chance to explain yourself. People hardly do this.

How do I select which Gospel/ Christian/ Godly music to listen to? If your message is honourable to God then I will listen to you. My principles are I do not tolerate extramarital sex or insinuation of such, pride aka flossing, disregard of authority and many others that I can’t remember now. If your music elevates this, I will not listen to it and if that is how all or most of your music is then I will not respect you whether your song is Christian or not. So if you sing a song like ‘Nina Kabinti’ (Bamboo and Roughton) I will listen to it because in your song you are respecting ladies and you are against extra-marital sex which is what Paul, Solomon and David (in Psalms) talk about. But if you sing, Daktari (Esther Wahome), with all the good lyrics but in your video insinuate a romantic or sexual touch when you are singing ‘Jesus touch me’ I will totally disrespect you.

There are different kinds of Christian Music including entertainment songs. I don’t know why many Christians believe that music for entertainment is wrong yet you want do take your family to Masai-Mara. That’s contradictory. When you go to Safari Park hotel, as you eat your nyama choma, you will most likely be watching the Safari Cats. I can guarantee you that the music they are dancing to was not written by a Christian. Why? There are hardly any Christian entertainment songs. I don’t know who started this notion that Christian music should all be worship and adoration? I have heard people say; ‘we don’t sing for entertainment, we sing to worship God’. That statement is wrong and correct at the same time. It is correct because in church, music should never be sang for entertainment (I am not saying that the music should not be entertaining, I am saying that the intention or the goal of the song should not be our entertainment. Entertaining God? Yes? Dancing for Him? Yes? So what is the difference? The difference is in the heart.). That statement is wrong because, there are Christian entertainment songs e.g. the Christian songs sang for the bride during weddings. As much as they are entertainment songs, they also worship God. Everything we do as Christians is an act of worship: whether it’s drawing, construction, marketing, singing, writing etc. Worship is a lifestyle not the songs we sing in church. Even in church, worship is not that song you sing, worship is the intention or motive that is in your heart as you sing that song.  By the way only Christians have a specific type of music meant to purely worship and adore God. This is the music we sing in church or listen to when we want to worship God. Music that is meant for worship and adoration should be totally selfless. And it is. This is the only type of music where we Christians have not gone wrong. I have never heard a worship song that is corrupted by self. That is why I support the control of the behaviour of the any musician on the church pulpit. When worshiping or leading people in worship; there should be minimum distraction to the self, the person leading, or the person worshiping. That is why many churches are strict on the way the worship leaders dress, the way they conduct themselves and the kind of songs they sing. Worship is an act where people go before God and lay down their crowns. This literally means that people do not give attention to who they are and what they have. Church is the only place where the CEO and the Tea lady can sit together because it is the only place where they are doing the same thing and their statuses do not matter.

Christian music is not only about worship and adoration. There are many things that concern a day to day Christian. He wakes in the morning and takes his children to school...there is nothing wrong with singing about that...he goes to work and on his way refuses to pay bribe to a policeman...there is nothing wrong with singing about that...he drops his wife at work and kisses her goodbye...there is nothing wrong with singing about that...he writes a bad incorrect appraisal letter about his junior whom he doesn’t like much...there is nothing wrong with singing about that...he goes home in the evening and has a fight with his wife about their finances...there is nothing wrong with singing about that...he tucks his kids in bed and does his personal bible study and while at it realised that he made a mistake at work with the appraisal and makes a note to correct it the following day...there is nothing wrong with singing about that...he apologises to his wife about the fight and they make up...there is nothing wrong with singing about that...there is probably something wrong with singing about what happens next between the man and his wife: but of course, not because sex between a man and his wife is wrong but because it better to leave it discreet as opposed to announcing to the whole world in song. Out of all these 7 song ideas I have stated above, only 1 would qualify to be a worship song: the song that would be written about the bible study he had in the evening. But it would only qualify if the song was about adoring God; otherwise it would just be a Christian song but not a worship song.

Please note: a slow Christian song doesn’t automatically mean a song is worship and not all worship songs are slow. But most are and this is because worship is an emotional experience where you make yourself vulnerable before God and more often than not this happens in sombre moods. Also note that being emotional doesn’t automatically mean that you are worshiping God. A song can be so nice, that you just want to raise your hands. That is an emotional gesture appreciating the beauty of the song whether it’s a Christian song or not. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is wrong to assume that everybody who raises their hands is worshipping. Raising your hand in worship has a completely different meaning; it means total surrender to God.

So do I listen to Secular Music? Yes and No. I do not divide the music I listen to according to gospel and secular. Neither does anyone though we claim that we do. What is secular music? There are 2 definitions. One definition is ‘worldly’, the other definition is ‘anything music that is not Christian music’ which is the commonly but ignorantly used definition. If you say you do not listen to Secular music, you only listen to Gospel music what about Muslim worship music? It’s not gospel neither is it secular (worldly). Its worship just like the Christian worship music, only that it adores Allah not Jehovah God. What do you sing to your sister or child on her birthday? Do you sing ‘God is so good’ or do you sing ‘Happy Birthday’? Happy Birthday is not a Christian song, neither is all  the music used in movie trailers, neither is the music used in news and TV adverts, neither are all the nursery rhymes like ‘humpty dumpty’ and ‘Mary had a little lamb’. All this is not gospel music; and you say you do not listen to secular music! Let me add; all Mozart piano pieces all celebratory songs like ‘Werocome-u’ the kikuyu version of ‘welcome’ sang during weddings.

There are so many types and styles of music which don’t simply fit into gospel or secular. Take Karl Jenkins music for example; say his famous song ‘Adiemus’ redone by Enya; where will you categorize his music?  He cleverly used the human voice as a musical instrument. The song has no lyrics just sounds and instruments. So is it gospel or secular, will you listen to it or not? Does it glorify God or not. It does. It excellent; God upholds diligence, it makes use of high levels of skill, God acknowledges this (He instructed that Bezaleel (Exodus 35:30 and on) to be the one to build the Ark of the Covenant. Not because he was the most faithful church goer, but because he was the most skilled. Whether Karl Jenkins lived an honourable life or not I do not know. All that matters is that the music does not dishonour God and I am not using it to dishonour God e.g. seduce a girl. If you use a Christian song for seduction you are still sinning. If Jesus appeared there He would put off the music. Another example of songs you will not be able to categorize is songs by E.S. Posthumas who are 2 brothers. An example of their music is Nara. An extract of the song Nara is used as the theme song for the TV series Cold Case. Such a beautiful song: I love it when the drums and the violins come in.

And do not tell me that rubbish about spirits in music! The reason I say rubbish is because many Christian leaders use this reasoning because you cannot prove and discredit them. I know that some music is dedicated to divine powers. Christian worship music is specifically dedicated to God who is our Divine Power. Christian worship music is more than just music. People get saved or convicted of something, or uplifted just by listening to worship music. I know I have. Remember, I am talking about Christian worship music not just Christian music.

It works the same way on the flip side. Music dedicated to the devil and spirits is powerful as well. I have heard of rock bands singing songs of sacrificing a maiden and have heard of their fans going ahead and killing a young girl. This kind of music is not just music. I have heard of music that talks about suicide and a fan goes ahead and does it.

But this does not mean that all music has spirits or is dedicated to spirits. If it was so the majority of people not the minority would be affected. Many Christians say that when you listen to music by someone like 50cent, the spirits from him will be transferred to you. First of all where is that in the bible? Second, if that was so, does it mean that every time you board a matatu (public transport van) and 50cent music is playing spirits are transferred to you. Or the spirits only transfer to you when you are listening in your house?

God is the author of all music not Satan. God is the author of everything including sex. The only thing God is not the author of is sin. Nothing comes from the devil. What you do with what you have is what makes the difference between right and wrong. The devil was the chief musician in heaven...He was created by God. God was the source. So there is no such thing as rock is from the devil, hiphop is from the devil. What is from the devil is the sin in that genre of music. If you deleted the devil, rock and hiphop and all the other kinds of ‘sinful music’ would still remain but it would have a positive influence on people instead. Anything a human being does or can do is based on the gift, talent or ability within him. Only God gives abilities and gifts. They say that Jay z and Rihanna are Illuminati and serve the devil and that is why they are so successful. It’s not that simple. These 2 are extremely gifted musicians. Not many people have the vocal capabilities and the unique voice that Rihanna has: Not many people have the creativity and the business guts of Jay z. The only part the devil would come in is by him saying ‘These people have unique abilities that I can use. All I need to do is offer them their wildest dreams’. The devil does not give abilities, he uses what you have. Only God can give abilities. If it were so, all I would need to do to be as rich as Jay z would be to join the Illuminati and so would everybody else and we would have billions of billionaires.

Music is good or bad based on the intention of the singer and the listener (or the one playing the music) and not the lifestyle of the musician or source of the original song as many Christians tend to think. That is why a song extract by Edith Piaf (1935-1963) who lived a life clouded by mystery can be used in News and you will not get demons jumping into your house every time the news comes on; because the intention of the one playing the music (the news guys) was to get a catchy stringy tune. If that was the case there would be spirits every time we sang Blessed Assurance or Amazing Grace and many other hymns because they were coined from tunes of the secular songs of those days. But the intention of the writers e.g. Fanny Crosby and John Newton, were pure and honourable.

The intentions of 50cent Candy Shop song is sex with some girl from the club. If I watch a TV series like CSI and the cops walk into a club to investigate something, chances are that they would play a song like 50cent’s Candy Shop, I don’t have to mute the TV for fear of spirits jumping into the house. The intention of the Script Writer is to emphasize the fact that this is an American club. The song would be played for about 3 seconds, not enough time to listen to it but enough time to hear what type of music it is so that we know what type of club the cops have walked into. The intention of the script writer or the one in charge of music is pure. It would be injustice and mediocre work if just because I’m a Christian script writer I decide to use an extract of Don Moen’s music as the cops walk into the club.  Not only is that a wrong and unprofessional depiction, it’s also an abuse of Don Moen’s music. Don’t get me wrong, if they play the whole of 50cent’s song just as it is, then the intention is different and wrong (against my principles); either to market 50cent or to make us listen to it.

It’s the same case as singing or playing Amazing Grace. As much as the intention of John Newton was pure it doesn’t automatically mean that mine is. I (who has a wife) might be singing it to my secretary Grace and cleverly using the song to tell her how amazing she is. But if a stranger gets into my car at that point, he will not know what is going on between me and Grace and will probably say ‘wow, you guys are such Christians. You don’t mind listening to Amazing Grace in the car. I envy you.’ Yet if Jesus walked into the same car, he would put the music off or punish me for not honouring Him. Note, it’s not John Newton (the author of the song) dishonouring God, neither is it the stranger who got into the car, it is me because of what I was using the song for and Grace as well if she was condoning it.

Why do you listen to this kind of music? Which kind?
I have rode in the car with someone before and they hear me listening to a song like ‘Pearls’ by Sade, also done by India Arie and Angelique Kidjo (I honestly think this song should have been done by a Christian artist) and they ask me why do you listen to this kind of music? I normally take a moment to calm my fit of rage then say ‘listen to it and you tell me why I listen to it’. Honestly people just talk and probably just parrot what their pastor told them without processing it themselves. How do I know this? I will ask someone to give me reasons why they stand by a certain principle and apart from the fact that they were taught so in church, they have no other reason; they can’t even defend it biblically except by the interpretation they were given by their pastor. Don’t get me wrong, I respect my Pastor very much (Pastor Kuchio). He is an honourable man, but I do not take everything he says as the ‘gospel truth’ so to speak unless I, myself am sure that the basis is from the bible and not some twisted interpretation of it. But so far, I have never heard him say anything that goes against the word of God.

The other day I met someone who told me that the story of the five virgins in the bible (Matthew 25) who went to buy oil for their lamps is symbolic of the Holy Spirit and the anointing oil and is the justification why we should buy anointing oil from our Pastor and it actually means that you are buying the Holy Spirit! WHAT! Yup! I know; that was my reaction as well. And the only explanation she could give was the fact that that is what they are taught so in church. I will not name the church because I have not heard it myself. But if I ever hear that pastor actually say that, I will name and shame him. Shame on you! So where do you take the money when the ‘saints’ have bought the holy spirit (intentional use of small caps) with? Do you take it to God so that He can buy his angels moisturizer for their wings? Nonsense!

So, where was I? I was talking about how people parrot their pastors say without confirming whether it is true or not. I remember a pastor saying that Lingala and everything associated with it is satanic. I believed him and probably said that to a couple of my friends only to realise years later that Lingala not just music but is a language and the most commonly spoken in Congo meaning the most common music in Congo whether Christian or secular is Lingala. What a deception? Probably the pastor said it out of ignorance and mostly it was a personal opinion. He did not like Lingala music so he decided that Lingala music is satanic and taught this to his church. That is why I say, these days whether you are Bonke or Joel Osteen everything you teach has to be based directly from the bible and if an interpretation is used it must be beyond a shadow of a doubt accurate.

Do you remember the story of David and his harp in the bible? Every time David played his harp, the evil spirit left King Saul. Why? What tune was he playing? If I found out what tune it was and played exactly what he played to a demon-possessed man would the evil spirit leave him? Is it because David was playing Blues instead of playing Benga? Or is it because he was playing harp and not a bass guitar? NO! It was because of the person he was. Why did they insist on David and not the most talented harp player in the kingdom? I think by now you know what I’m trying to say: it had nothing to do with the type of song, the genre of music, the instrument, the voice or the tune. It had everything to do with David’s heart. David was a humble man who feared God and dedicated his life to Him. He later became the greatest King that ever lived.

Does God Really Exist?

Does God really exist? I don’t know where I’m going with this. I’ll just keep writing and see what happens.
So does He exist? This is an age old question asked by millions of people in countless generations. I’ll just base my question on my own personal experience.
Why do I believe in God? I was born in a Christian home and started going to church at an early age and believed in Jesus at an early age. BUT! We all know that if you train a child in a particular way that’s what they’ll grow to know and believe. If you teach a child courtesy when they are young, they will grow up to be courteous adults unless something corrupts them on the way or unless something tells them that what they learnt was wrong or unreal. What’s the difference between a muslim child and a ‘me’ child. We both were taught teaching when we were young and both grew up to believe in them. So whose is wrong or a lie? I was taught that to know God is a personal thing…you need to have a personal relationship with Jesus. So let me get personal. I understand the danger of doing this. I am a human being and we are prone to remembering the negatives more than the positive…but here we go.

I grew up believing in God ok until I started questioning. We were taught not to question God but why not? Many people in the bible did. I started questioning why my prayers were not being answered. I remember really praying for a disc-man just after they hit the market. I ‘followed all the procedures’. Some said you need to be specific with God so I did. I remember this very well coz it’s something I really wanted to have. The bible says that God is our father. If my son really wants a disc-man and I can afford it, I’ll buy it for him. I remember wanting a walk-man (cassette player) and I asked my father. It took a while but I remember him calling me one day on phone and asking me what I’d like him to bring. Without hesitating for a second I said a walk-man. I was extremely excited when he did. It’s a really good feeling when someone gives you exactly what you have always wanted. I was a teenager then. But the disc-man; I remember praying continuously everyday upstairs in the room at a particular time for about a week or more. I even gave God the specifics: a black disc-man; Sony. Surely why didn’t God simply answer a young teenagers prayer? And it’s not like He told me anything like a disc-man is not good for you son because it will distract you from your studies or do you promise to improve your grades if I got you a disc-man? That’s what a father would do. Up to this day I have never owned a disc-man. By the time I could afford it, it was outdated.
Now my prayers have changed. I remember praying ‘please God don’t let the fuel isha in my car’. I was not too far from the petrol station. The fuel gauge of my car doesn’t work and the car had just kicked (that was the sign that I had a very short distance before the fuel was over). The car went off almost immediately after saying the prayer. It stopped at a very awkward place. It was difficult to get public transport from there. So why did God ignore my prayer? I will stop there before this becomes too long; but I can remember numerous, very numerous times when my prayers were not answered including the infamous one when I was attacked by guys from a rival school. We were from a Christian union function. Please note: I did not have a very good high school background. I used to attend almost every ‘funkie’ (club functions with other schools), for the sake of hitting on chics. I was in almost every club; some because I was good at what I did there but mostly for the sake of chics: Name it drama (I was good in drama), debate, scouts, chess (I was very poor in chess), cheering squad, science club, CU…actually I think the only club I was not in was YCS (a catholic club). I never attended ‘funkies’ at boy schools or shady girl schools.
But this one time, my brother invited me to attend a Christian Union function at a shady girl school. I was about to say no, but changed my mind. I decided that at least once in my high school life I should genuinely attend a Christian Union function. So I went, for God, not the chics. I sat at the front, was actively involved in the whole process. One of the facilitators even identified me as having taught me in Sunday school many years before. She was very proud to see that I was still holding on till then. On our way back, many of us wanted to buy fries. Our patron suggested that we send a few of us. 3 of us volunteered; I was one of them. Meanwhile, there was a football game going on in our school and we defeated the rival team. They were known to be the most rowdy school in the province. Their school was also a walking distance from our so we met somewhere in the middle. I remember praying very confidently, God please protect us. Full of courage I told my school-mates to walk behind me. We crossed the road and noticed about 10 or less guys crossing the road as well. I totally had no fear; at least not until I got two punches on my jaw. I couldn’t chew food for a week. My school-mates were ok. A police car appeared before anything else happened. That experience dented my belief in God’s divine protection. Whatever explanation you give me today cannot cover the fact that I feel less safe when directly facing danger. It happened again years later. Without getting into the whole story; I saw danger when about five guys suddenly appeared on the shortcut road I used home. There were 3 young ladies ahead of me. It was around 6pm. I immediately knew what they were up to. I said a quick prayer and walked on boldly. But when they grabbed the ladies, I remembered my previous experience; I turned around and ran just in time to see one of them start to run after me. I don’t know how long he did coz I never looked back. I ran… I have never run so fast; until I was safe. I ran for more than a kilometer. I was around 19yrs old.
So was God trying to teach me something, which I apparently haven’t learnt till today: or does He simply not exist?

I have never seen miracles with my own eyes; miracles that I can believe happened without a shadow of a doubt. The only miracles I have seen are on TV or stories which might as well be cooked or staged. I will not deny the fact that I have prayed and prayers have been answered; but none of them lack a counter explanation. My favorite is my legs. When I was about 25yrs old, from out of the blue I got a pain in both my legs. It was so bad one Sunday morning I couldn’t get out of bed and there was no one in the house. I called an instrumentalist friend of mine and told him that I wouldn’t make it to church. I was one of the instrumentalists. I had never missed a session before. My legs pained so bad for about a week on and off. The doctors couldn’t find anything…or I was probably going to the wrong doctors. One day, I remember very clearly I got so furious at the pain and commanded it to stop paining in Jesus name. Within minutes the pain stopped and never ever came back. So there, my own personal miracle: BUT, there’s a counter. The human mind is a very powerful tool. What happened beyond that is not beyond the human psychology. With your mind you can choose to live or die at that crucial moment. This is a proven fact. Pain can be controlled by the mind. Notice, when you are annoyed and someone steps on you, you feel a lot of pain. That pain is biologically measurable. It’s actually real pain only that your nerves have exaggerated it. When you are in a very good mood and someone steps on you, you will not feel the pain or you will feel less. The mind controls this. If you distract your mind with a movie, your stomach ache will seem to disappear yet it’s still there. What if that’s what happened on that day. What if it was just a strong exertion of my mind? If it was something like my chopped off finger growing back in seconds, I would not doubt coz that is humanly impossible. Every answered prayer of mine has a counter explanation or loophole or the probability of coincidence. I wish I had privileges like Adam who spent time with God every evening, Abraham to whom God spoke to audibly, Noah who was the only man God spoke to when He wanted to destroy earth, Elijah who saw many strange things including being fed by birds, an angel and running faster than a chariot, Elisha who made a whole army of soldiers go blind, Joshua who shouted and made city walls collapse, Isaiah who saw the throne of God, Samuel whom God audibly called in his sleep, the disciples who walked with a man who claimed to be the Son of God; even if they doubted the miracles they saw Him being whipped, ‘thorned’, nailed to a cross, poked with a spear, die and rise again on the 3rd day. They still doubted though, at the beginning, when they saw Him. This is normal for a human being. Though Jesus reproached them for being unbelieving He did not tell them ‘too bad if you don’t believe you won’t go to heaven’. He told them to touch Him to assure them that He was human and not a spirit and also to touch His wounds to  assure them that it was the same Him, Gideon told God if it’s really You make the ball of wool wet and the ground dry. God did, just to alleviate doubt, I assume, he told God ‘now make the ball of wool dry and the ground wet’. God did.

What if the bible is a well thought up coined super-tale? If it is then it’s perfectly crafted; with all the bases covered and escape phrases. The bible says ‘whatever you ask in my name I will do’ (John 14:13-14) and about 2 other verses. Then it goes on to say ‘you ask and do not receive because you ask amiss’ (James 4:3). Without getting into much doctrine, there are many “contradicting” verses in the bible. The bible has no perfect working formula. ‘Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you.’ Fine: but after how long? Should I seek Him for all my life then all these things will be added when I am 82yrs old? One well crafted illegal deal will get me all 'these things' in 2 years. After that I will be a very good person, go to church, pray, be faithful to my wife, be a good father, a good employer, always do legitimate business, give to the needy…by the way have you noticed that the so called secular world is more philanthropic, as much as it might sometimes be for show or to reduce payable tax; someone...many people are being helped. The bible seems to have a way of protecting itself from being discredited. I’m saying this assuming the bible is a-well-thought-up-coined super-tale.

We base all our belief in God from the bible. What if we deleted the bible? Of course this would mean deleting thousands of other religions who have extracted their beliefs from the bible including Islam, Catholics, Jehovah Witnesses, and Mormons etc. We would remain with facts. If we didn’t have the bible would we still believe in God, would we know Him?
If God is real and God is truth, it would mean that no matter what we do away with, including the bible; if we search for the truth, as everybody seems to be doing, we will find God. Truth remains truth whether there is compelling reason to believe in it or not. If a baby grows up alone on an island near the sea, he will eventually realize that he has the ability to swim; whether there is a book (bible) or a person (preacher) to tell him that he can or cannot. The only reason why he will never realize he can swim is if he doesn’t get curious and start searching for something to do…which is highly unlikely. If God truly does exist, then we will realize it whether compelled to or not unless there is someone blinding us from doing so. If Satan is real, then God is real. I’m beginning to get confused here. If God is real then research and science will figure it out eventually or at least figure out that there is a super power somewhere and we need to access that power. Scientists will try and access that power but after failed attempts will realize that it is impossible as human beings to access God with science then realize that they had the answer all along...it had been in written in the most common book…the bible. BUT, if God is real then Satan is real too. Therefore he will work against people realizing that God does exist through science and technology. Therefore people will take drastically wrong turns e.g. evolution and build all their facts based on that turn. I don’t know how it works; does God just watch Satan deceiving people and do nothing? If God is real, then evolution isn’t; so why did God let such a terrible lie loose. He should have nipped it when it was being conceived. How many people believe in evolution? Hundreds of millions?

Why then would God watch his own people do mediocre things, Christian music is mediocre (not all of it but majority of it). Most of like is wanting professionally or lacks content or both or is repetitive in theme, content and style therefore lacking in creativity. A lot of it doesn’t even honor God; you wonder why it’s called Christian music. Almost all matatus (public transport vans), written Christian verses or playing Christian music, drive recklessly and pay bribes to cops, businesses with Christian names like Jehovah driving school or the Messiah baking shop have bad products and has staff that doesn’t behave in anyway Christian. Ask any executive or businessman, majority will say that they would rather work for or supply to a non-religious organization. It should be the other way round. Self-help groups like Alcoholics Anonymous work more effectively than church accountability groups. They say that Africa has the most Christians and the most prayerful people then why does it have the most riots, the most hunger, the most disease, the most poverty and the most twisted governments? By the way isn’t there a verse in the bible that says all authority is given by God? If so then why does God give Africa, the people who pray to Him the most, the worst authorities? Christians are mostly knee-jack reactors hardly original. Pop Idols and other talent search is invented then you hear The exodus talent search. Movies are created followed by Christian movies, Rock then Christian rock, Rave then gospel raves; which is a terrible idea, Djs then Christian djs, TV stations then Christian TV stations including Christian news, Magazines then Christian magazines. There is nothing that I know of that a Christian did first. The only thing I know original to Christians is the church facility. Many copycats have risen recently to imitate the church style of meeting together to worship. Otherwise everything else, name it; the richest man, the fastest runner, the best footballer, the best guitarist, the best pianist, the MVP in basketball, the best American football player, the person with the longest hair, the fastest rapper, the best shot in the army, the fastest swimmer, the bestselling book author, the best actor, the most awards won person, the first man on the moon, the first man to discover America, the man who discovered electricity, the Wright brothers, Albert Einstein, the best painter that ever lived, the best customer-care bank, the fastest growing business, the creator of facebook, the man who discovered the internet, the most respected man on earth, the UN peacekeeper of the year, any Guinness Book of World Records person; I can continue naming them; the fastest Formula One driver, the fastest motor sport rider, the owner of Virgin, the best performer of all times, Larry King,  Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, the best vocal trainer in the world, the man who owns the biggest cows, the best Nat Geo photographers, the most diplomatic president in the world and the Queen. I can bet you anything that almost none of these persons are Christians.

Science is proven facts. I love science. It’s very intriguing; it’s filled with a lot of splendor and mystic and it’s filled with a lot of controversy. Controversy is a result of ignorance. When people did not know about ball lightning, they claimed that balls of light in the air or on the ground were extra-terrestrial beings until research and modern technology proved them wrong. I’m sure there were some preachers then telling people that they were demons or it was a sign of God about something. Ignorant preachers who think they know it all…do some research before you open your mouth.

Some things are just too intriguing to be independent of an assisting or controlling power. The Earth’s size is perfect. If it was larger it would contain free hydrogen like Jupiter and if it was smaller there would be no atmosphere like mercury. The earth is a perfect distance away from the sun: further away we would freeze, nearer we would burn yet it moves at a speed of over 100,000 km/h and maintains this perfect distance. The earth has a perfect sized moon that controls the tides but not too much to make the water spill over the continents.

It’s the perfect and only survival element. Who thought of water? Water carries nutrients and chemicals through the bodies of living things. Water is designed to freeze at the top and insulate the bottom to prevent entire lakes and oceans form freezing to death. The sea is salty but water is designed to evaporate without the salt so that we can all benefit from clean usable rain.

What else can process more than 1million pieces of information per second except the human brain. The brain has the ability to screen information, select what is important and focus on it. The brain has the ability to recognize, feel, relate, reason, dream and plan. Create a computer than can do that! I dare you! The most powerful computer processors do not match up to the animals with the smallest brains, like the ostrich.
Then there’s the human eye that can handle more 1.5million messages simultaneously. The eye is not explained in evolution. It can’t. It has no evolution pattern.

The big bang! Fine! But what caused it? Everything that exists is a result of events set in motion by a cosmic explosion. What caused the cosmic explosion? No explanation! Dead End!

Who came up with the laws of nature? Why does a cup of tea cool after a while instead of getting hot? Why does gravity apply? Why couldn’t we float? Why is gravitational pull of a certain strength and not more? Everything in nature can be calculated. Speed, sound, nutrients, age, amount of lightning, height of a tree, the pull of gravity, the amount of rain, the amount of water carried by a wave, the amount of sun’s heat and the list goes on.  Anything that can be calculated can be controlled. Why isn’t everything random like evolution would like it to be? If everything can be controlled, who is controlling it? Mother Nature?

Why is DNA so amazing? It’s a 3-billion-lettered code. How did that end up in the human cell? The DNA code is so precise that someone must have come up with it. If it was not that precise, we would have human beings with gills and plants with hair. In other words there would be no life possible after 1 generation.

Watching strange animals do strange things like a flying snake, the flying fox, a see-through jelly fish that can kill a man, a fish with a tooth for a horn, a lizard that can kill a goat with one bacteria filled bite, a bird that can imitate all sounds including the sound of a car alarm and an electric saw, a hummingbird whose heart beats 20 times in a second, the bees that kill an intruder by generating heat with their vibrations, a lizard that can run on water, a blue whale whose heart is the size of a small car, a pig whose skull can morph according to whether it is in the wild or in a domestic environment, wild dogs that attack better than the SWAT team, an giant octopus with suckers each of which can lift 20kgs, an eel that has a mouth within a mouth, an anaconda that can swallow a crocodile, a baboon that can tell the difference between a human male and a human female and grabs a baby when being attacked knowing that the fellow baboons or humans cant harm it when its holding a baby, a tiny almost see-through Australian amphibian that can live up to 100 years and can go 6 years without food, a lion that can pick out a weak or injured animal from a herd in the dark by listening to the pattern of the running hoofs, a fish that can stay 3 days out of water without dying, a fish that can only survive under extreme pressure 750ft deep and bursts its veins when removed, a tree that can grow to 350ft, an ocean that oxygenates itself by system of oxygenated water being cooled in the poles and sinking to the bottom causing warm water from the tropics to flow to the poles in a continuous cycle keeping the bottom of the ocean well supplied with oxygen, a whale that makes its baby swim in its drift to enable it to keep with her speed and many more.

Evolution my foot! How could evolution be so diverse? Why did that fish, I can’t remember its name, decide to come out of water and form limbs, while the others stayed, why some creatures evolved into snails while others into humans. How stupid can you get? How does the solar system work in such perfect coordination? Why are living things perfectly placed on earth where it’s not too hot or cold and it’s the only planet with water? I can’t imagine living on Mercury, one year takes 88days. How depressing. What happened to the dinosaurs? They definitely were not there in the days of Noah coz the 50 foot tall Dystylosuarus wouldn’t have fit in the 45ft tall ark. So who is wrong, who is calculating wrongly. Christian researchers claim that the earth is less than 10,000 years old; scientists say that the earth is hundreds of millions of years old. What about the fossils? That can’t be one massive conspiracy.

So does God exist? He does. Without using the bible I have convinced myself that there has to be a Super Power out there; there has to be someone behind all these things. Too many facts point to a Supreme Being, a Super Controller, in charge of great patterns and co ordinations. In the study of anything there is always a dead end where scientists can’t explain something. So there is a God but which God is the real one? The Allah, Buddha, God Almighty? Which one?
Only the bible supports all the above facts successfully. Jehovah Witnesses believe that the Holy Spirit is a force. I think that’s demeaning God. God is Almighty he doesn’t need the assistance of some force. If God is so great then it can’t be that easy to access Him. Muslims believe that Jesus (Issa) was just an extraordinary prophet. The bible says Jesus was the son of God and he died on the cross so that human beings can access God. A human being is just a super-animal and a mini-creation. I will not believe fellow human being who tells me he has direct access to God…who do you think you are. The power of a  human being can be only be calculated by what he owns. Take that away and you are just like me and any other animal. You can’t survive anywhere else on our 12billion km solar system except very few parts of our 24,000km earth and you want to match up to God. Shame on you!

So who is the God of the bible? Really? I don’t know. I think we understand Him wrongly and misinterpret the bible to suite our personal desires. Anyway, finding none other greater, I will believe in this Supreme Being whether He answers my prayers or not. I will believe the bible and everything it says, whether it is controversial or not. Its either that or I believe in something of less than God. Why serve the servant while I can serve the King.

The World has Ended more than 23 times

What's with people fascination with the ending of the world. Do you want the world to end or what's your problem. You probably started a church and it failed and decided to 'end the world'. The world has miserably failed to end more than 23 times and will end at least 2more times.

People are sick in the head, especially people with money and power like Oprah, who has started her own church. According to Oprah, heaven is in your mind and Jesus dying on the cross is symbolic; it never happened. Then on the flip side according to James David Manning, Oprah is the antichrist and Obama is part of the trinity of hell....What!!!
People just can't stop...Here is some advice...on second thoughts I don't have any advice. Notice all the people who 'ended the world' were rich and famous or religious leaders of big congregations or really tiny congregations like the House of Yahweh guys. One group believes they have access to it all, the other are desperate attention seekers..Nonsense..Hatukuji kanisa yenu!

How do people just calculate out of their little tiny thoughtless heads. Some pope (Innocent III) decided that since Islam started in 618AD and if you add 666 you get 1284AD then that's when the world will end. Then there's the group that thought it was 6th June 2006 (6/6/6), then there's those who say that 11:34pm is when the devil is most active coz if you turn your digital watch upside-down it will read hE:ll, then paka akilia usiku wanafikiri wamerogwa. I wish people would just be thrown to an green island alone so that they can learn to keep their useless thought to themselves. Then there's jihad guys who believe they'll get 72 virgins in heaven...72 virgins? Are you serious? You can't successfully handle 1 wife on earth you think that when you go to heaven god (intentional small caps) will give you super-sexual abilities to handle 72?

I digress...Where was I? So, there are 2 more significant world endings 12/12/2012...Notice the roundness of the date, just like 1/1/1000 by Nostradamus and there's the year 3797 when Nostradamus's predictions suddenly stop...hence the world ends.

There are 5 notable world endings:

January 1st 1000AD:
The months leading up to the new millennium were tumultuous. Many pilgrims, knights, and others made a trip to Jerusalem, thinking that the Apocalypse and Armageddon was upon them. During their trip there, many died of disease and hunger. Some pilgrims even sold all their belongings in the hope that it would help them become one of the chosen few to ascend. Needless to say, the world was relatively safe when the calendar rolled over and many pilgrims were left homeless.

The Millerism Era (The Great Disappointment):

There was this preacher named William Miller. He studied the Bible extensively and after doing some calculations, he became convinced that the world was going to end sometime in 1843. He double checked his answers for 4 years and then in 1822 went public in a document with his declaration. He said the world would end between March 21, 1843 and March 21, 1844. When nothing happened, he pushed the date back to April 18, 1844. Another man within this movement, now known as Millerism, predicted the final doomsday date of October 22, 1844. When nothing happened (again), it became known as “The Great Disappointment.” The Millerism movement weakened after that and the thousands of followers were left confused and in disbelief.

March 10, 1982 (Jupiter Effect):
What’s so special about March 10, 1982? Well on that day, the planets were all on the same side of the sun. While the planets were not exactly in a straight line, many people saw this event as a sign of the end times. The “Jupiter Effect” was supposed to wreak havoc over tidal forces, cause earthquakes and hurricanes, and almost every other natural disaster you can imagine. Well, we’re still here.

1st Jan 2000:
The infamous Y2K situation. Futurists had visions of toasters attacking their owners with weaponized toast and lawn mowers chasing after gardeners (seriously). Governments around the world feared that computers and electronic systems would read the digits “00″ as 1900, instead of 2000. There is no doubt that at least a few of the people who showed up in Times Square in New York that night were expecting to go out in a blaze of glory. Much to their dismay, the Y2K situation passed relatively harmlessly.

6th June 2006
If you write that date in short form, it comes out 6/6/06. As you may know, the number ’666′ is referred to as the sign of the devil. Religious sects were informing everyone they could that the Antichrist was returning to Earth and that people should prepare themselves. Either the Antichrist never came, or he got stuck in traffic because Earth still stands.

The Germanic Flood that never came
In 1499, the German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Stöffler predicted that a vast flood would engulf the world on February 20, 1524. (His calculations foretold 20 planetary conjunctions during this year—16 of which would take place in a “watery sign,” a.k.a. Pisces.)

In Europe, more than 100 different pamphlets were published endorsing Stöffler’s doomsday prophecy. Business boomed for boat-builders, not least for German nobleman Count von Iggleheim, who constructed a three-story ark on the Rhine.
Although 1524 was a drought year in Europe, a light rain did fall on the designated day. Crowds of people—hoping to gain a seat on Iggleheim’s ark—began to riot. Hundreds were killed and the count was stoned to death.

If you need more info here is a downloaded list of world ending dates that miserably failed.

About 90 AD: Saint Clement 1 predicted that the world end would occur at any moment.

2nd Century AD: The Montanist movement predicted that Jesus would return sometime during their lifetime and establish the New Jerusalem in the city of Pepuza in Asia Minor.

365 AD: Hilary of Poitiers, announced that the end would happen that year.

375 to 400 AD: Saint Martin of Tours,  was convinced that the end would happen sometime before 400 AD.

500 AD: This was a nice round year like 1000 ,1500 and 2000 which were also world ending dates. The antipope Hippolytus and an earlier Christian academic Sextus Julius Africanus had predicted Armageddon at about this year.

968 AD: An eclipse was interpreted as a prelude to the end of the world by the army of the German emperor Otto III.

992: Good Friday coincided with the Feast of the Annunciation; this had long been believed to be the event that would bring forth the Antichrist, and thus the end-times events foretold in the book of Revelation. Records from Germany report that a new sun rose in the north and that as many as 3 suns and 3 moons were fighting. There does not appear to be independent verification of this remarkable event.

1000-JAN-1: Many Christians in Europe had predicted the end of the world on this date. As the date approached, Christian armies waged war against some of the Pagan countries in Northern Europe. The motivation was to convert them all to Christianity, by force if necessary, before Christ returned in the year 1000. Meanwhile, some Christians had given their possessions to the Church in anticipation of the end. Fortunately, the level of education was so low that many citizens were unaware of the year. They did not know enough to be afraid. Otherwise, the panic might have been far worse than it was. Unfortunately, when Jesus did not appear, the church did not return the gifts. Serious criticism of the Church followed. The Church reacted by exterminating some heretics. Agitation settled down quickly, as it later did in the year 2000.

1000-MAY: The body of Charlemagne was disinterred on Pentecost. A legend had arisen that an emperor would rise from his sleep to fight the Antichrist.

1005-1006: A terrible famine throughout Europe was seen as a sign of the nearness of the end.

1033: Some believed this to be the 1000th anniversary of the death and resurrection of Jesus. His second coming was anticipated. Jesus' actual date of execution is unknown, but is believed to be in the range of 27 to 33 AD.

1147: Gerard of Poehlde decided that the millennium had actually started in 306 AD during Constantine's reign. Thus, the world end was expected in 1306 AD.

1179: John of Toledo predicted the end of the world during 1186. This estimate was based on the alignment of many planets.

1205: Joachim of Fiore predicted in 1190 that the Antichrist was already in the world, and that King Richard of England would defeat him. The Millennium would then begin, sometime before 1205.

1284: Pope Innocent III computed this date by adding 666 years onto the date the Islam was founded.

1346 and later: The black plague spread across Europe, killing one third of the population. This was seen as the prelude to an immediate end of the world. Unfortunately, the Christians had previously killed a many of the cats, fearing that they might be familiars of Witches. The fewer the cats, the more the rats. It was the rat fleas that spread the black plague.

1496: This was approximately 1500 years after the birth of Jesus. Some mystics in the 15th century predicted that the millennium would begin during this year.

1524: Many astrologers predicted the imminent end of the world due to a world wide flood. They obviously had not read the Genesis story of the rainbow.

1533: Melchior Hoffman predicted that Jesus' return would happen a millennium and a half after the nominal date of his execution, in 1533. The New Jerusalem was expected to be established in Strasbourg, Germany. He was arrested and died in a Strasbourg jail.

1669: The Old Believers in Russia believed that the end of the world would occur in this year. 20 thousand burned themselves to death between 1669 and 1690 to protect themselves from the Antichrist.

1689: Benjamin Keach, a 17th century Baptist, predicted the end of the world for this year.

1736: British theologian and mathematician William Whitson predicted a great flood similar to Noah's for OCT-13 of this year.

1792: This was the date of the end of the world calculated by some believers in the Shaker movement.

1794: Charles Wesley, one of the founders of Methodism, thought Doomsday would be in this year.

1830: Margaret McDonald, a Christian prophetess, predicted that Robert Owen would be the Antichrist. Owen helped found New Harmony, IN.

1832?: Joseph Smith (1805-1844) was the founder of the Church of Christ, which became the Restorationist movement after many schisms. It now includes The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -- a.k.a. the Mormons, and about a hundred other denominations and sects. He heard a voice while praying. He wrote, in Doctrines and Covenants section 130:
14: "I was once praying very earnestly to know the time of the coming of the Son of Man, when I heard a voice repeat the following:"

15: "Joseph, my son, if thou livest until thou art eighty-five years old, thou shalt see the face of the Son of Man; therefore let this suffice, and trouble me no more on this matter."

16: "I was left thus, without being able to decide whether this coming referred to the beginning of the millennium or to some previous appearing, or whether I should die and thus see his face."

17: "I believe the coming of the Son of Man will not be any sooner than that time." 14
The year in which this event occurred is not recorded. However, one commentator suggested 1832 or earlier. 16 Smith is later recorded as having said:
"I prophesy in the name of the Lord God, and let it be written--the Son of Man will not come in the clouds of heaven till I am eighty-five years old." 17
Smith would have reached the age of 85 during 1890. Unfortunately, by that year, Smith had been dead for almost a half century, having been assassinated by a mob. Note that his prophecy is ambiguous. It can be interpreted that:

Jesus would return during 1890 (which did not materialize) or that

1890 would pass without Jesus' return (which did come to pass).

Plant a Seed: Highly Effective Scam?

Personally I do not believe in Plant a Seed the way Benny Hinn puts it, the way 70% of pastors in Kenya put it. I remember 1 specific preaching where Benny Hinn said God told him to give $1000 and after that God blessed him with I-can't-remember-what. Then he told people in his church to plant a seed of  $1000 and they will be blessed with financial increase. I wish I could get a log of all those people who gave $1000 and see what financial increase they got. I never hear the testimonies after the prayers.

Then there's Apostle Martin Ssuna of Kenya. I was in the service when he said that God told him that 120 people will come forward and give Ksh1000 and they will be blessed with financial increase by the end of that year. More than 120 people went forward. So, did God miscount? Or was the message a fake? Secondly, did all the more than 120 people who went forward get financial increase that year? Is these pastors are so sure about their "prophecies" then they should follow up on the testimonies.

A preacher guest at NPC Valleyroad, I can't remember his name, but he was called Prophet someone, came to a youth convention a couple of years ago. I remember very well when he "prophesied" that the conference will be full by the end of the week. I was very convinced by the prophesies he was saying about people, infact I was so afraid he would call me and tell me something about me that I didn't think anyone else knew. He was doing that to various people. BUT, when he talked about the convention being full, I remember thinking "yah right!" This conference has been dwindling in number over the years and so has the quality how will people suddenly decide to come in 100's by the end of the week. At the end of the week, it was just as empty as the 1st day. I wish I had the confidence then to ask him why he gave us a fake prophecy.

I do not believe in any televangelist that has an MPESA number at the bottom of the screen. If you serve the bigger God why are you a begger? Did Jesus ever say please support my ministry buy my music. Christian artists, if your music is good enough we will buy it. The reason why people don't buy your music or pay for your concerts is not because Christians don't support each other, its because your music is terrible or you are trying sing like Nonini. Useless! Kwanza there was a christian rapper who used to rap like tupac. Nonsense. And they played his music in Hopefm and Family fm. Anyway, today is not about music.

So, where was I? Oh yah. If you serve the bigger God, why do you always seem to be begging. If what you preach is sound and true, we will all want to listen to you. We will always give offering your ministry will grow without you ever asking for a dime. Ask Bonke and Billy Graham. Ask Jesus. Jesus ministry grew from 1 to 12 in 3 years, 12 to120 buy the time he ascended 120 to 3000 on the day of pentecost then to uncountable until Rome wanted to eliminate them: WITHOUT ASKING FOR A DIME. Na wewe unataka nikutime mia tano via MPESA what is wrong with you?

Freely receive, freely give. Simon the magician in Acts 8, wanted to buy the power of the Holy Spirit from Peter with silver coins. Peter condemned him. There are people who charge miracles. They are called witch-doctors. Anyone who says plant a seed in my church and God will bless you is in the same class with witchdoctors.

Pastors & Bodyguards

There's NO ONE OUT TO GET YOU!
I think the reason that pastors have bodyguards is the feeling of being overly important more than the need for security. Tell me which pastors bodyguard will greet you "Hallo. How are you? You'd like to talk to Pastor Peter? Let me check if he's busy." None! They all shove you off.

First of all why do pastors need bodyguards in church: during a church service: after giving a very long boring sermon. First of all, nobody wants to talk to you, not after listening to you for three hours when your last point was 2 hours ago. Second, nobody cares about your safety. You seem to have taken care of that yourself so we don't need to pray for you. Third, if your god (I have intentionally not used caps because I don't believe it the same God I serve) can use you to make a criple walk surely can't he protect from you from "terrorists" in your own congregation or whoever you think you are protecting yourself from.

Those bodyguards are normally very rude, dressed in cheap Tom Mboya suits, 100bob shades and feeling like 'wamefika'. While in reality, they are jobless form four leavers, who missed out getting bodyguard jobs at their local club because they were too skinny.

Pastors are supposed to be shepherds. Have you ever seen a shepherd walking with a guard to protect him from his sheep? Nonsense!  Jesus walked with disciples: people he was training to be like him, not to protect him. Infact whenever the disciples tried to do bodyguard work, Jesus stopped them. He said, "Let the children come to me." He told Peter to put away his sword in the garden of Gethsemane. When they tried to stop the blind man from calling Jesus, Jesus heard him and went to him. Notice, Jesus didn't tell the disciples; "Haya, sasa, bring him to me. Now hold him up. Put him back down. Lift him again. Sasa mweke chini na mchikilie vizuri" Jesus was simple, brief and to the point.

As a matter of fact, there is no "superpower" in the bible who had bodyguards except those in official positions. The Israelites were 3million and they all talked to Moses whenever they wanted to; at least before Aaron and the Judges came up. And that only happened because the work was too overwhelming for Moses.
The only other person I can think of is Abraham, who had an army of 400. And that was because he had thousands of cattle, sheep and goats, kilograms of gold and silver, stores of food and a few thousand slaves and workers under him. A pastor with a church of 100 people, a family of three, property worth Ksh50000, does not even have any spritual gifts or anything that another christian would look up to na ako na 5 bodyguards? Nonsense!

By the way, Mr Pastor Man or Woman (today I will not drop names), you will notice that after you delete the bodyguards, still, no will want to talk to you save your family and a few faithfuls.. probably 2 or 3!
